Sports Soundoff

Wednesday, November 04, 2009

Two kinds of coaches -- I'm calling about the high school football coach under fire on the front page. There are two types of coaches in football — those who have been fired and those who are about to be fired.

AU not close to beating Tide -- Someone thinks that Alabama is going to lose to Auburn this year. Auburn is light years away from beating the Tide again.

Finebaum doesn't make sense -- Paul Finebaum, two weeks ago you wanted to cancel the football season because no one was worthy of playing Alabama or Florida. Let's just fast forward to the Alabama-Florida game and none of the rest of the season counts. Now you're comparing the LSU-Alabama game to the Thrilla' in Manila. You make so much sense, I think we could train a gopher to be a better columnist than you.

NASCAR losing viewers -- I am glad I didn't waste my money going to Talladega to watch the race. It was so boring. I turned my TV on "Driving Miss Daisy" because it was more exciting. I don't know what NASCAR is doing, but they're sure losing a lot of us.

Don't get the big head, Jags -- I would like to sound off on "Stick a fork in them, they're done." Fork Union is not a powerhouse and the Jaguars are not a great football team. They are playing high school football teams, and they're just a tiny step above a high school football team. Way to go, South Alabama. Don't let those big 64-6 games go to your head.

Can't wait for a USA stadium -- I dream of a day when South Alabama's stadium is on campus and people can park all around the campus and people can visit and tailgate and go to the game. That will be a great day when I can take my family out on a nice fall day. There'll be fans all over the campus and singing and parades going down Jaguar Drive. What a day that will be.
