Why advertise? I would like to know why Alabama Power Co., a Southern Company, which covers many states, spends millions of dollars on TV, radio, newspaper advertising when it is a monopoly?

Lesson learned, hopefully To the lady who left her children inside her car while she ran into the cell phone store: You never leave your kids inside alone. You always bring them in the store with you. I bet you learned a lesson by this. You're lucky you got them back safe and sound, and we're really happy that you did.

Words to remember This happened before a few years ago, and a Sound Off caller said something I will never forget. They said you wouldn't leave $500 in cash sitting on the seat of your car and walk away, would you? So aren't your children worth more than that?

No sympathy The mother who left her infant son and toddler daughter in the car unattended does not deserve our sympathy. She deserves our scorn. At best, she is guilty of child neglect.

Too late for baseball I don't hate daylight-saving time as much as I hate having the World Series in November.

Nodine should apologize I think Stephen Nodine owes the Chamber of Commerce an apology. They do a lot more for this city than Stephen Nodine ever started to do.

He should've been there I was just reading about Stephen Nodine being upset with the chamber's agenda. Well, first, why wasn't he at the meeting? Two, he takes credit for everything the chamber does. What's the deal with this guy? He doesn't seem to be helping the people. He's more just after a pat on the back.

Give them more money, not less Steve Nodine is against the Chamber of Commerce because he can't control them. They're controlled by their members. Why would you want to cut funding to such a successful organization? The County Commission, if anything, should increase funding.

Looking out for No. 1 Apparently, Steve Nodine is only interested in his own political aspirations, regarding his comments about the Mobile Chamber of Commerce. He really is only looking out for himself.

Look at all the states around us Even ultra-conservative Tennessee has gambling now, has a lottery. That's amazing. A lot of people yammer on about the human cost of gambling. Well, are you saying everybody else around us is stupid? I don't think they are. There's a much bigger human cost when you don't keep up with the times.
