Sound Off

Reporter walked the walk Kudos to Dan Murtaugh. Someone needed to get the ball rolling on fixing the dangerous sidewalks. Senior citizens should walk more, but in many cases, the areas are too dangerous.

Caller knows the danger Thanks for doing the story about the sidewalks. I am in the hospital now from tripping over one of those uprooted sidewalks at Fulton and Terrace streets. Keep up the good work and maybe we can get some of them fixed.

Problem all over town I have to agree about the problems with the sidewalks. Last Mardi Gras, my wife took a tumble because of the sidewalks. It's all over town, not just in one particular place.

A source of injury A friend tripped on a Mobile sidewalk while walking after dark about 15 years ago. He knocked out four front teeth.

Wasn't it obvious? I see there is another waste of the taxpayers' money. You didn't have to undergo a study to know that smaller class sizes produce better grades for students and a better environment for learning. Any idiot knows this, but there apparently are still some who want to waste our money on a study they already know the answer to.

Reinventing class size Now I see where there's a plan to study class sizes. Why? It has been proved that smaller class sizes are better. Why reinvent the wheel?

Discipline, not class size Class size isn't the issue. It's allowing students to misbehave because teachers and principals are afraid of being sued. Restore discipline.

Why do a study? Anybody knows that smaller classes make better education for children. If Roy Nichols is not smart enough to know this without having a study done, he needs to be replaced.

Boars have their voice About the wild boar: Yes, it is my business. It's my business to speak for those who cannot speak. The animals have no voice. It's left to human beings. Anytime they're mistreated, killed or abused, I will speak. No one will stop me.
