Don't congratulate Thomas How can Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson Jr. congratulate Herman Thomas and his legal staff? How can he congratulate the man for escaping charges? I don't see where there's much to congratulate.

Next time, poll the jury I have served on many juries in another state. Each time the verdict was read, the losing side asked for the jury to be polled. This ensures that each juror supports the verdict. Shouldn't the prosecutors have done this in the Thomas case, or is Mobile, Ala., different?

Callers forget Rodney King I see that people are comparing the Herman Thomas case to the O.J. Simpson case. Well, they forgot about Rodney King. It was on video. Four or five cops just about beat him to death. The jury said, no, they didn't do it.

Case should be closed I am so glad the D.A. closed the case on Herman Thomas. God help the next elected official that the D.A. has to deal with.

Leave Thomas alone I wish they'd leave Judge Thomas alone. He's a good man. I'm so glad he didn't get convicted. I don't believe he did any of those things. Leave that good man alone.

Even bin Laden would go free I have a suggestion for Osama bin Laden. Fly into Mobile. Surrender yourself to John Tyson. Hire Cowboy Bob to defend you. You'll get off scot-free.

Community lost in Thomas case This is for Bob Clark, who said he won and they lost. You didn't win. The judge pretty much handed you the case. As far as losing, the whole entire community lost. The criminal justice system lost. And please stay off the national news. When you're on TV, we all lose if people think all of us in Alabama act like you or agree with you.

Benjamin understands our needs The confirmation of Dr. Regina Benjamin as U.S. surgeon general should make everyone in Alabama proud. I had the privilege of growing up with Regina and I know that she's never been given or handed anything in her life. She has worked for everything she has. Instead of cashing in on a lucrative career, she has chosen to give back. No one is in a better position than she is to understand the needs of everyone struggling to have health care coverage.

New top doc sets wrong example With diabetes and obesity being two major disease problems in the country, it is a travesty that Dr. Benjamin gets confirmed as the top doc. What a sorry example for good health she is.
