Great religion debate continues I have called to disagree with the caller who said the greatest killers in the world were atheists. Some of the worst atrocities in history, committed by two human beings, were done in the name of religion. I have a deep and strong belief in God, and I live my life the way I think he would want me to live it, but I have no use whatsoever for organized religion.

Calling on Oprah It's so sad that this young man, Timothy Robinson, was injured. Now he has brain injuries, and his family needs help to get him to Atlanta to recover. It would be so wonderful if Oprah Winfrey would give his family a helping hand.

Hope a restaurant comes, too I'm stoked about the maritime museum. I hope that in the design, they'll be able to put a restaurant over the water, where you can watch the ships come in and the small and large crafts on a beautiful day like today. That'd be fantastic to sit and have a meal and soak it all in.

Religion is on its way out The real problem with this world, especially this little corner of it, is too much religion. The world would be a better place if there were no religions. The worst of them is Christianity ? 2,000 years spent imposing their views on the world and killing those who would not accept their ways. Atheism, ethical humanism and reason will bring solutions without the persecution and lies forced upon this world by religions.

Thanks, Coach I'd like to thank Coach Tyler Murray of Theodore for stepping up for girls' athletics. My daughter played softball at Theodore, and girls are treated unfairly. They are not equal to the guys.

'Derelict in their responsibility' For years now, the city officials have been derelict in their responsibility in removing the overgrown lots, falling-down houses and filled-ditches in my neighborhood. We've always been told there's no money, but yet they seem to be able to come up with millions for a new museum.

It's the good book To the Sound Off caller referring to the Bible thumpers: We don't thump our Bibles, we read 'em. Maybe you should, too, and stay out of bingo parlors and casinos. Quit pushing your ideology down other people's throats. Take your money and give it to the Waterfront Rescue Mission or to the Penelope House.

Mind your business To all the Bible-thumpers opposed to gambling: I'll stay out of your church if you stay out of my bingo parlor and casinos. Quit pushing your ideology down other people's throats. Don't tell me whether I can buy a lottery ticket. I'm not going to put money into your collection plate anyway.

Buy a flag, fly it proudly Thank you, veterans, for what you've done for our country, but it's a very sad day in America when very few houses fly the American flag. On Veterans Day, in my large subdivision in Daphne, I saw only three flags flying. Every house should have a flag flying. People should be patriotic. If you have a flag, and it's twisted by the wind, untwist it. If it's damaged and tattered, please replace it. That's respectful to the servicemen and women who served our country.

A day to be proud I'm the proud daughter of a retired military veteran, and a sister and aunt of veterans. I have an uncle and great uncles who were members of the greatest generation and have their names recorded at the World War II memorial in Washington. Every day to me is Veterans Day. I hope all Americans will fly the flag today as a way to give thanks to a veteran. God bless America, and God bless our military.

Closing decision always late Mobile County school closings are always after the fact. The life or injury of one child is not worth keeping schools open. Barton doesn't always make wise decisions.

Keep up the heat About those two guys in the paper who were traveling to Thailand as child molesters: The people who set up the tours for these guys should also be put in jail and taken out of society for the rest of their lives. They're predators and can't be changed.

Glad to have Nodine I live in the Semmes area. We have been very proud of Steve Nodine's stewardship on the County Commission. I see Sound Off sort of bashed him today. We're very proud of him. He took an interest in our area, and we're glad to have him. He's a great commissioner.
