Writing on wall Consider that, for years, the American government has not been able to effectively distribute the flu vaccine to the citizens of this country. And now the government wants to run public health care? Compare the two issues here, when you can't do something that's very simple for a government to do, such as distributing vaccines, versus managing something as complex as health care. The American people really need to wake up.

Schools linked to stability All of these people whining and crying about paying an extra 1-cent sales tax don't realize that the schools are the key to a lot of the economic problems in the county. I don't have any kids in the school system, nor do I have any grandkids in the school system, but I own a house. And my house is paid for, but guess what? The value's gone down about 30 percent. And if no one moves over to Baldwin County for the schools, it's going to keep going down.

More school fees needed In south Alabama, we're going to the top of the list of people without jobs. We've got all kinds of problems with poor people, including myself. And you know, gas prices are going up and property taxes should've gone down but didn't. There are so many things that we need to change in south Alabama. But we need to look at the parents and having them pay an entry fee to go to school each year, an entry fee to do sports, an entry fee to do special projects or field trips. The people who live down here, the majority of us, are just burdened to death with tax money going to schools. They cut 600 jobs and that just shows you how much slack was in that thing. We're building buildings we don't need and schools we don't need. Just hold off and make things right.
