"Mr. A.O. Bourdon of Biloxi, renowned as a tarpon fisherman, was in Mobile yesterday and says that the Mississippi coast is enjoying a season of exceptional prosperity. There were more than 700 barrels of shrimp at the wharves when he left the 'Riviera of America' yesterday morning, and this will prove a record season in the packing and shipping of that delicacy in which Biloxi is the leading market of the world.
"Bourdon was also interested in a crab-cleaning device which used compressed air, and in softshell crab farming."

"Evidence which the state contends brands blond, 20-year-old Otto George , of Plateau, alleged leader of the George gang, a killer-bandit deserving death in Alabama's electric chair, was completed late yesterday at the youth's trial in circuit court, for the murder of Herman Kirkland , 24-year-old Toulminville pharmacist, last May 13."
"Although turnstiles had already clicked to the tune of nearly 20,000 people during the past two days, the Greater Mobile Gulf Coast fair was officially opened last night, with a welcome address by Mayor Cecil F. Bates and the introduction of nightly free entertainment programs."
Friday, Nov. 6, 1959
"Fire of an undetermined cause last night almost razed a two-story former rooming house at the corner of Jackson and Church streets.
"Donald Pitt, 30, of 2437 Clubhouse Road, (a fireman) was rushed to Mobile General Hospital by Ambulance Service Co. after he was struck on the helmet by a falling board. He was treated for shock and minor bruises."
"The first meeting of the newly appointed State Docks Advisory Board was held here yesterday, with State Docks Director Earl M. McGowin outlining the operation and financial setup of the facility."
Members of the board were Tom Russell of Alexander City, Clarence Gardner , Jasper, Cecil H. Young Jr. , Anniston; Richard Murray , Point Clear; Ennis Gibbons , Pinckard; Glen Brock , Mobile; H.L. Toenes , Mobile; Jess Keller , Florence, Conrad Fowler , Columbiana; and William D. Sellers of Birmingham."
