St. Mary plans memorial golf tourney
The St. Mary Knights of Columbus will host the second annual Saint Mary Catholic School Steve Thompson Memorial golf tournament at Spring Hill College on Nov. 8.
A catered lunch will be served at 11 a.m. A shotgun start will begin the tournament at noon. There will be door prizes for all participants and members of the top finishing groups will receive prizes. The cost is $100.
In addition, the tournament will include a street party at Callaghan's Irish Social Club beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday. Music will be provided by Les Lyden and his band, Lyden UP. There will also be a silent auction with a variety of items, including a week in an exclusive San Diego condominium, four nights at a rustic inn in New Hampshire, original artwork by Lyden, three nights at a Meyer Realty property in Gulf Shores and custom-made crawfish tables.
Proceeds will benefit the school's campus improvement project. Last year's proceeds were used to add a new parking lot and a new grassy play area, now Thompson Field.
The golf tournament is a memorial to Steve Thompson , a St. Mary's alumni who died of cancer in 2001. He was married to Michelle Thompson ; the couple has three sons.
To register for the tournament or to learn more about sponsor opportunities, log onto www.stmarystevethompsongolf.com or call Desi Tobias at 251-432-5001.
