Baker High School

A blood drive will be Nov. 3 in the multipurpose room for any student who meets the qualifications to donate blood. These qualifications include picture ID, at least 16 with parental consent, and must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. To sign up for the drive, go to Mrs. Estle's room, number 72, and fill out a form. Help save a life: donate blood.

Baker High School's academic competitive team, the Scholar's Bowl team, was undefeated at the meet by winning over Murphy, Citronelle, Williamson and Theodore high schools. Players were Evan Alvarez, Shelby Hearn, Kristen Henricksen, Anthony Nishida, Andrew Autrey and Harrison Watts . Not only did the varsity Scholar's Bowl team win but also, the JV team won three of its four matches. Students making up the JV team are Kevin Lazarus, Meghan Sergeant, Andrea Williamson and Justin Joiner .

On the last Saturday of every month, Baker High School hosts a recycling drive. Bring No. 1 and No. 2 plastics, steel cans, aluminum cans, milk and tea jugs, laundry detergent jugs and paper products. Items will be accepted and unloaded and sorted by volunteers from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month.

Baker's drama department will present "Little Shop of Horrors" on Nov. 19 and 20 in the auditorium. The cast includes Tyler Kendrick, Gabby Merz, Lauren Edwards, Blake Greenwood, Gage Patrick, Julisa Kidd, Marquita McMillan and Lakeithia Smith . The musical will be shown four times on these two days. Admission is $5.

Davidson High School

Davidson High School was recognized at a ceremony to kick off the Research Women Educators conference at the University of Alabama in Birmingham on Oct. 8. The RWE selected the local Engaging Youth in Engineering program sponsored by the Mobile Area Education Foundation at Burns Middle School and Davidson High School to be recognized.

Alivia Payne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Payne, was selected to represent the school in Birmingham. Payne delivered a speech to the conference about her experiences in the programs at Burns and Davidson.

Davidson's Kinetics dance company was chosen out of various high schools to perform a dance titled "Night Terrors" at an event at the University of Southern Mississippi on Nov. 4. Students performing are Morgan Bishop, Morgan McCaskill, Maya Bragg, Casie Connolly, Aasha Kang, Jacquelyn Schodlbauer, Tatianna Mondaini, Jessica Stopper, Tyler Thomas, Janae Yancey, Rosemary Catlin, Kendall Hall, Delovitt Rogers, Breanna Haines, Kara Tobin, Stephanie Smith, Jalisa Bragg and Alissa Hadden .
