Chickasaw parade is Saturday

Little ghosts and goblins in Chickasaw will be donning their scariest — or prettiest — costumes for the Children's Halloween Costume Contest and Parade on Saturday.

Participants from infants through 12 years of age will assemble at J.C. Davis Auditorium, 300 Thompson Blvd. for the 9 a.m. costume judging. The contest will consist of three age divisions: infants to 4 years of age, 5-8 years and 9-12.

The parade, which is for walkers only, will begin at 10 a.m. Well-behaved pets on restraints can accom pany paraders. Treats will be given to participants along the parade route. Sponsors must be approved and should call 251-452-6466 to set up a booth.

Chickasaw United Methodist Church is sponsoring Trunk 'N Treat at 5 p.m. Saturday behind McConnell Civic Center, 224 Grant St. There will be prizes for the best decorated car trunk or truck tailgate. Call the church, 251-452-3461, for details.

A Halloween pumpkin- carving event for children 6-12 years of age will be held at McConnell Civic Center on Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The class is free, but participants need to secure a reservation by calling 251-452-6466.

First Baptist North Mobile is hosting a Fall FUNtastic event, Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. The church is at 1251 Industrial Parkway on the corner of I-65 and Industrial Parkway (Hwy. 158) just off Exit 13.

Barbara Head of the church said there'll be inflatable games, a hay ride, a petting zoo, candy and lots of fun. Admission and games are free. The event, Head said, is for preschoolers and children through fifth grade. For additional information, call 251-679-3266.

Today at 5 p.m., Citronelle United Methodist Church, 7970 Lebaron Ave., is hosting a concert by the gospel group Nu Image, who will present a blend of gospel music, including traditional, contemporary and urban, and inspirational and patriotic music.

The public is invited to the free concert and music fest, said pastor Kathy Knight. There is no admission, though a love offering will be taken, she said.

Col. Glenn Frazier , a World War II veteran and former POW, will tell his story at the University of Mobile on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The public is invited to this free talk, titled "From Forgiveness to Freedom," which will be held in the university's new Ram Hall. Frazier will be joined by Dr. Sidney Phillips and his sister, Katherine Phillips Singer .
