County schools eye calendar for 2010-11

The Madison County Board of Education is considering a calendar for the 2010-2011 school year. The board has meetings scheduled for Nov. 19 and Dec. 17.

The proposed 2010-2011 calendar:

Aug. 9: First day for students

Sept. 6: Labor Day

Oct. 4-8: Fall break

Nov. 11: Veterans Day

Nov. 25-26: Thanksgiving break

Dec. 23: Winter break begins

Jan. 5: Students return to school

Jan. 17: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Feb. 21: Presidents Day

April 11-15: Spring break

May 20: Last day for students

May 23-24: Graduations

If needed, weather days will be added to the end of the school year.
