Catch a rising star at Humphrey's Bar

Lane Turner, runner-up in the 2008 Next Great American Country TV Star contest, is performing Tuesday night at Humphrey's Bar & Grill, 119 Washington St. The concert starts at 9, and there is no cover charge. Turner grew up playing the guitar in Levelland, Texas, and attended Texas Tech, where he was an All-American track star in the decathlon. He continued to play the guitar and formed the band Diamondback, eventually opening for country stars such as Brooks & Dunn and Mark Chesnutt. He moved to Nashville in 2002 and signed with Bob Doyle, manager of Garth Brooks, for a song publishing and management contract. He released the single "Always Wanting More" in 2004, and his latest songs include "Little Book of Matches" and "Where is the Sunset?"
