Fighting Owl Films releases Webisodes of 'Strange Experiment'
Tuesday, June 02, 2009
Special to the Press-Register Mobile-based independent film group Fighting Owl Films' latest short film "The Strange Experiment of Doctor Purefoy," will be available as a six-part Web series at the group's Web site. You can watch each of the 3-5 minute episodes online at no charge at www.fightingowlfilms.com. Part one of the series, titled "Pro logue," is now available online (http://www.fightingowlfilms.com/purefoyprologue.html). Once the series concludes, the 28-minute film will be available online in its entirety. The film, described as a slow-burning mystery, follows college student Corey, who is failing biology. Her only hope of graduating is to take an extra-credit job as assistant to the mysterious Prof. Purefoy. It's an easy job, but when Corey begins to wonder what's in all those boxes she's picked up for her teacher, what started off innocently soon spirals into a nightmare of physical and psychological manipulation that culminates in an explosive finale. "Purefoy" features local actors Erin Lilley, Jim Faust and Khristian Fulmer. Music is by Soren Odom. The film was written and directed by Thomas Smith. Fighting Owl Films' past work includes the Internet film "The Night Shift," which was featured in genre magazine Fangoria's online edition earlier this year. The filmmakers are planning to produce a local feature film version of "The Night Shift" next summer.
