OAKVILLE ? Spanish Fort survived the loss of Wren Smith 100 feet from the finish line to upset Scottsboro and win the 5A boys title, and UMS-Wright swept the 4A crowns Saturday in the state high school cross country championships at Oakville Indian Mounds Park.

Staff report Chelan Blow scored 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field, including a 5-for-6 performance from the 3-point line, to lead UMS-Wright to a 75-14 win over visiting Citronelle Thursday. Alison Casteix added 13 points and Jordan Jeansonne scored 10 for the Bulldogs (4-0), who visit Satsuma Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Before 1999, St. Paul's girls won 16 straight state cross country titles until Scottsboro broke the streak. The Saints got some payback in 2000, but Scottsboro won again in 2001 and has won the 5A girls title ever since.
