Jesus: Why the World Is Still Fascinated by Him Tim LaHaye with David Minasian. Colorado Springs, Colo.: David C. Cook, 2009. 240 pp. (Hardback). Here is a readable, inspiring and influential book by the author who teamed up with Jerry B. Jenkins to write the "Left Behind" series a few years ago. In this production, LaHaye takes on the assertions set forth in books like "The Da Vinci Code" and "Misquoting Jesus" to show that Jesus is all He claimed to be: the Son of God in human flesh who died on the cross to provide eternal salvation for people who trust Him as Savior and Lord. "Despite ever-evolving cultural changes and notwithstanding media reports to the contrary, Jesus is just as relevant to this generation as He was when He walked on the shores of Galilee," LaHaye wrote. Barbara and Susan's Guide to the Empty Nest: Discovering New Purpose, Passion and Your Next Great Adventure Barbara Rainey and Susan Yates. Little Rock, Ark.: Family Life Publishing, 2008. 244 pp. (Hardback). Needless to say, facing the empty nest challenge is quite difficult for some women. For them and others, this book can be a lifesaver. "We were made for motherhood but somewhere along the way we became very settled in our role," Rainey said. It is quite interesting to learn that Rainey and Yates have raised six and five children, respectively. To be sure, the onset of the empty nest life can be a time of celebration and fulfillment. Because of the relevance and practicality of this book, this reviewer gives it an A-plus. Days of Infamy Newt Gingrich and William R. Forstchen. New York: Thomas Dunne Books, 2008. 369 pp. (Hardback). Utilizing what is often called "active history," this book examines how a change in one decision could have altered American history relative to the attack on Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941....
