Dr. Lisa Porter is 1st director of support agency IARPA
The new chief researcher for all 16 of America's intelligence agencies will visit here next week.
Dr. Lisa Porter, the first director of the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA), will visit the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
She will speak Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Shelby Center for Science and Technology.
The event is free and open to the public. For information, e-mail to rsvp@uah.edu.
Porter, a Massachusetts native, was associate administrator of NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate and co-chair of the National Science & Technology Council's subcommittee on aeronautics before being named to her current post.
IARPA sponsors research aimed at breakthroughs and also supports science and technology research already being done by intelligence agencies.
Porter has a doctorate in applied physics from Stanford University.
