Editorial Producer - Sports

We are looking for a Sports Producer. The Producer will be responsible for maintaining and updating sports stories and section front pages, working closely with affiliate newspapers to build special-report packages, updating e-mail newsletters, creating photo galleries and monitoring news wires.

The Producer will also be heavily involved in helping grow the new high school sports section at highschoolsports.al.com.

As is this is a sports position in football-hungry market the sports staff routinely works nights and weekends at various times throughout the year.

Candidates should possess a BS in Journalism or have comparable work experience. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience maintaining a news and information web site.

Candidates must possess skills in the following areas:

• Editing photos with Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady
• Editing HTML with a text editor
• Using FTP to publish files to the Internet
• Strong grammar and spelling skills
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems
